The Necklace

Here is a description of the charm necklace I made today. When I set out on my monthly trip to Hobby Lobby with my niece, I didn't know that I would be creating this necklace but it really means a lot to me now and represents who I am at this particular place and time of my life.

(from left to right)

Faith: I need to have more faith in myself. Also, it's time I opened myself up to faith in G-d.

Love: I need to love myself more along with realizing that despite my massive insecurities, I have the potential to be loved by that someone special.

Trust: I don't trust people very much and this is one area where I struggle. I've been hurt too many times and it's harder to trust with each experience.

Silver Ribbon with Orange Crystal: Orange is the awareness color for leukemia (which I am in remission from). I had to make this by super gluing the crystal to the ribbon.

D: It's the first letter of my name. It also happens to be the first letter of my favorite band – Daughtry!

Star of David: I have felt more affinity towards Judaism than the religion of my parents (Lutheran). I have been reading about the Jewish faith for a very long time, lived with a Jewish family, and my best friend is Jewish. I get a very warm feeling from Judaism and have decided to convert. This is something I've known I was going to do for long time but just didn't know when the time would come. Now is that time and I have taken the first step of that journey.

Bird charm: My best friend Randee sent me this necklace out of the blue. It's one of the very few times, probably less than five, that someone has done something so nice to me.
